An End of an Era

Dentistry Team Retires After 31 Years of Service

April 2022 marks the end of an era as doctor of dentistry Roland Montminy and his wife Terry, hygienist, retire from making rounds at The Morrison Skilled Nursing Facility. Residents and staff alike will miss this dynamic duo who for 31 years having been bringing smiles to residents in more ways than one!

Things have changed a lot over the years. In 1991, the team began by seeing residents in the shower room on the third floor. As improvements were made to resident rooms, the Montminys were able to start doing rounds in each patient’s room—making the process easier and more comfortable for the residents. “Over the years, we have seen a big improvement in dental care in nursing homes,” says Dr. Montminy.

The Morrison celebrated the team’s retirement with a surprise party in the Terrace room where residents and staff gathered to applaud the Montminys’ work. No party is complete without refreshments, and everyone enjoyed special dentist-themed cupcakes with smiling teeth and toothbrushes. And should you worry about the sugar and your teeth, Dr. Montminy was quick to point out that cupcakes are okay so long as you brush your teeth after!

“We cannot thank Roland and Terry enough for their service to the residents,” says Tammy Bishop, Administrator in Training. “In 31 years, they never missed a month. That is an amazing record. They will very much be missed and impossible to replace.”
