The Morrison Communities, which includes Sartwell Place Assisted Living and The Summit by Morrison Assisted Living, will join facilities across the country during National Assisted Living Week, September 12-18, in celebrating the individuals who live and work in assisted living.

This year’s theme, “Compassion, Community, Caring,” reflects “the hard work and dedication of all the essential caregivers in assisted living communities during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said National Center for Assisted Living Executive Director Scott Tittle. “It also represents the importance of family and remaining connected, even when we could not physically be together.”

“Our caring and compassionate staff is incredible,” said The Morrison Communities Executive Director Shannon Lynch. “We appreciate what they bring to their jobs every day, but this week gives us the opportunity to recognize their dedication in a more formal way with small gifts and special events honoring them and our residents.”

During these difficult months of the Covid-19 pandemic, “Our staff not only cared for our residents on a daily basis, they continually went above and beyond, standing in for family and providing love and companionship when we were closed to visitors and so many of our protocols had to be shifted to keep residents safe,” Lynch said. “We know we can’t ever replace family, but during these months our staff developed strong bonds with the residents just like watchful neighbors do in a tight-knit community. I couldn’t be prouder of them!

Assisted living facilities like Sartwell Place and Summit by Morrison offer a broad range of services to seniors who want to maintain a level of independence, but need some assistance with the activities of daily living such as medication management, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and bathing.

For seniors who require additional care beyond assisted living, The Morrison Communities offers both long-term care and skilled nursing and rehabilitative care following surgery, an injury or acute illness at the Morrison Nursing Home campus, and a Memory Care unit at the Summit campus.
